The First Annual Pretty Much World Famous Valentiny Writing Contest!
I asked her for paper
Not plain paper, the coloured stuff.
I told her I need glue
I called out for glitter
I begged for scissors, the safe ones.
I nagged her for paint
I pouted for stickers
I asked her for ribbons and scraps from her scrap
box
Some wool
Some foil
Some buttons
Some beads
“Enough!” said Mummy in a big grumpy voice. “No
more.
What do you need all these things for?”
I showed her the card
And she started to cry
Then her smile came out as big as the sky
We hugged so tight it warmed my heart
We sat on the floor and pasted together
She made a card just like mine
That’s why Mummy is my Valentine.
Good job! I've been guilty of getting grumpy when my kids constantly nag, beg, and pout for thing too;)
ReplyDeleteAww, short and sweet! And I think many kids (and parents) will totally relate. Well done!
ReplyDeleteVery cute story. =)
ReplyDeleteVery cute story! I love the twist at the end.

ReplyDeleteThis Grumpy Mommy likes you Valentiny story. :)
ReplyDeleteVery sweet!
ReplyDeleteNice job, Cecilia, in less than half the allotted words! Love all the supplies your little MC calls for - so believably kid-like! And how sweet that her hard work cheered her grumpy mummy and got her to join the Valentine-making fun! Thanks so much for entering this sweet story!
