This is one of my six month old grandson's favourite books. It gets a high level leg kicking, arm waving, cooing  rating from him. He recognises the title phrase and immediately becomes animated. The story has a simple imperfect rhyming lilt to it as the pages turn and the whole flock of sheep of a most unusual nature are introduced. Red sheep, thin sheep, wide sheep, sun sheep, in fact so many sheep it allows for a wide variety of questions and side stories for the reader to share with the readee(I made that word up).

The pacing of the book allows for variety in the reading.

The book is almost a decade old but remains as fresh as when it was authored by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek.

There are literally hundreds of worksheets and lesson plans, downloadable printables and so much more for parents and educators to use with this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants some kicking, cooing, arm waving enthusiasm from their little readers.

This review has been written for the 14:14 challenge hosted by Christie Wilde. Christie Wilde 14:14 challenge  in which participants are encouraged to read and review one picture book each day for 14 days and blog about it.

  1. Grandbaby approval is the best! And how could you not get that with Mem Fox. Great review for pacing. Thanks for sharing Cecilia.

  3. This looks cute! If only I had little ones in the family. My nephews are 7 and 8.
